Information for Professionals and Programs
Any program working with families
can implement components into their program to assist in child abuse and neglect
prevention. Your program can implement increased attention and building up
of a family's protective factors. Please see below the description of the
protective factors, and click on each for a link for more information. (From strengtheningfamilies.net)
The Five Protective Factors
The five Protective Factors are the
foundation of the Strengthening Families approach. Extensive research supports
the common-sense notion that when these Protective Factors are present and
robust in a family, the likelihood of child abuse and neglect diminish.
